Art/Ideorealism:
Primitive arts and the popular
"An idea is a dream that finishes
well".
These words capture the essence of the new artistic movement,
"Ideorealism", founded on 1998 in France by Yvo Jacquier and Yannig
Guillevic - the two enterprising painters that created this new
European concept that is looking to expand universally.
For that purpose, they arrived in Sonora with the exhibit
"Living History" in the Gallery of Arts and Sciences at the
University of Sonora. Ideorealism is based on the primitive arts
and popular tradition and seeks simply to carry through to the
painting the essence of being human, to be the conductor of the
creative moment in which the artists gives birth to his/her work,
to help the observer enjoy the same pleasure by establishing a
communication with the work. Here, actions such as observation and
discovery lead to sensitively grasping origin of the idea, the
substance of Ideorealism becoming the deciphering of the language
of the idea, explained the artists.
Few have an idea of the daily life of each artist and the truth
is that intellectual preparation is an important factor in an
artistic career because that is where an idea comes to life. After
the painting, comes the presentation before the public in an
exposition and the next cerebral moment. The ideorealists describe
that in order that this last action (exhibition) not be a false
one, one must leave the observer alone with the work, establishing
thus a communication between himself and the painting.
Individual esthetic enjoyment, interaction with the work, being
carried away by the images, the movement and even the music that
can exist in a painting are inevitable outcomes that arise when a
true connection is formed. As a new movement, Ideorealism brings
with it the substance of creation, an important part and obviously
the most appreciated one in the exposition, the primary material,
the works themselves. However, often ignored is another part, the
internal glimpse that comes from having a personal contact with the
work.
